Life-forms

Life, in its simplest forms, is very common in the galaxy.  Nearly every environment with liquid water has something growing in it.  Occasionally, a planet is found with a more complex ecosystem with animals and plants (or the local equivalents), and on rare occasions, a complex ecosystem is home to an intelligent species.  The galaxy is large enough, however, that those rare occasions add up to a very large number of intelligent species.  In all the galaxy, only two intelligent species became organized enough to independently discover interstellar space travel, Cielioids, and Humans.

Ball Dogs

Ball Dogs are a genetically engineered pet, similar to a lap-dog, without legs.

Bravaxians

Bravaxians are an intelligent species from Bravaxia.  They were enslaved by the Convergence for the purpose of food production, and later liberated by the Planetary league.

Garbage-fruit (a staple crop of the Bravaxians)

The Grunkle-fly was hunted by the Bravaxians for its diaphanous, foul-tasting meat.

Motor-centaurs

Cielioids

Covered in thick, photosynthetic skin, Cielioids have large, black eyes and their mouths are covered with beaks.  An early mastery of genetic engineering has divided them into a large number of subspecies.  Cielioids are descended from carnivorous plants, and are the only species in the galaxy other than humans to independently discover interstellar space travel.

The Dogarri were an important early ally of the Planetary League as the human race expanded into the galaxy.

Electric Orgaff

Electric Orgaffs are not related to Orgaffs, but instead are biomechanical cyborgs similar in size and behavior to an orgaff.

Exo-plankton is a blanket-term that applies to a wide array of simple organisms found in deep space.

Fire-Grass

Fire-grass is native to New Promise, and will burst into flames when in contact with uric acid.

Nalorgians

From the planet Artanis 4, deep inside the Empire of 1,000,000 Suns, the Nalorgians are symbiotic entities made from four distinct species.

Nalorgian Climbers are a subspecies adapted to rough terrain.

The Grand Nalaxian was a sentient complex of Nalorgian spawning-pools that served as planetary governor.

Necroderms

Necroderms are creatures that float on top of water, looking like algal mats, waiting to capture and constrict their prey.

OOl-Tyr

The Ool-Tyr are an intelligent species that evolved free-floating in zero gravity.  This especially suits them to be pilots of spacecraft, much to the chagrin of the Empire of 1,000,000 Suns.
